The lens is responsible for most of the eye's ability to focus images. The lens is positioned just behind the cornea. It works like the adjustable lens in a camera. It is responsible to change the focal distance of the eye and by doing so for keeping images in focus on the retina. The adjustment that the lens makes is known as accommodation.
