LCD and Plasma TVs are simply TV units that have the technological components necessary for playing back an HD broadcast signal. That's it. You stick those components into a CRT (tube) TV and voila, its an HDTV too. And DLP TVs have those components, so there are HDTV DLPs. And the same can be said for the forthcoming OLED technology.
