The Depth or distance would be:

d = acceleration x time² / 2

If the stone was held at a dead stop until dropped, acceleration is equal to gravity which is 9.8 m/s²

So then you have:

d = (9.8m/s²)(2.27s)² / 2  or (9.8m/s²)(2.27s)(2.27s) / 2

the seconds cancel each other out and you're left with meters.

d = 25.25 m
