x+y=7
x•y=-18

x+y=7
x=7-y

x•y=-18
(7-y)•y=-18
7y-y^2=-18
-y^2+7y+18=0
Y^2-7y-18=0
(y-9)(y+2)=0
y is either 9 or -2

x+y=7
x=7-y
X=7-9
X=-2

X•y=-18
9•(-2)=-18
-18=-18

There you go, y is 9 and x is -2
